AFTER missing the majority of the year due to injury, the talented small midfielder managed to get back for Tasmania’s final game of the year. Dakin had an impact in trying conditions in the Wildcard Round, picking up 25 disposals, eight clearances, 10 inside 50s and a goal in a tight loss for the Devils. While he has not been able to show off his talent much this year, with a clear run he has plenty of upside in the future. At the Rookie Me Draft Combine, Dakin clocked up a 21.3 on the yo-yo test which speaks to his work rate and hard running ability through the midfield. While his outside game and kicking are some of his noted improvements – and he said he wanted to get faster despite a 2.99-second 20m sprint – Dakin has a lot to like about his game and could be a sleeper in the draft based off limited viewing.
STRENGTHS: Accumulation, one-on-ones, clearances, endurance
IMPROVEMENTS: Outside game, kicking
