SUMMARY: After missing two and a half years of football with knee injuries, Mayo returned with a bang in 2018. He won the WAFL Colts Leading Goalkicker Award with 50 goals from 20 games, was named full forward in the WAFL Colts Team of the Year, finished equal third in the Jack Clarke Medal and sixth in his club’s Best & Fairest. When on song, Mayo is powerful in one-on-one contests, has speed to break away from his direct opponent - recording 2.95 seconds in the 20m sprint at the State Combine, and is a precise kick for goal. He also covers the ground very well and is able to take plenty of uncontested marks - with an 84cm running vertical jump - and is also a great field kick. The only query about Mayo is whether his past injuries are truly behind him.
