STRENGTHS: Goal sense, tackling, scope, defensive pressure
IMPROVEMENTS: Endurance, athleticism
SUMMARY: Unfortunately for Finbar O’Dwyer, he did not see a lot of action on the park this year after some promising signs early in the season. He made the extended Vic Country squad before eventually missing out due to injury. Having not seen a lot of him, what stood out in those few games was his goal sense, defensive pressure and tackling, which while he did not kick a bag playing forward, he always pressured opponents and got to dangerous positions. It shows he has scope for the future and was invited back to the Murray Bushrangers’ squad as a 19 year-old. He will want a big pre-season to improve his endurance and other athletic areas, but he could be one to keep an eye on next year if he does not find a home this year.
