STRENGTHS: Disposal efficiency, Tackle pressure, speed, goalkicking
IMPROVEMENTS: Size, strength, endurance
Declan Carmody is another of the Glenelg players of a similar size and weight and is suited mostly as a high forward/midfielder which their team had a lot of in 2018. Carmody has had an excellent season at SANFL Under 18s level with seven games and 11 games at Reserves level and finished the season with an impressive 23-goal haul across both. Carmody was not part of the final South Australian Under 18s side for the championships, but was in the initial squad in 2018. He did participate in the recent South Australia AFL State Combine conducted, and he performed well at speed and agility testing. Being 177cm he has shown he has a work ethic to find the football against bigger bodies, and has always been a key for Glenelg sides inside the forward 50. His midfield work improved in 2018, and with extra endurance would assist in longer stints at the higher level. Carmody has played against bigger bodies his whole career in country football and moving to Adelaide to further progress at Glenelg. He is a dangerous player that can hit the scoreboard given any opportunity.
