After impressing at bottom-aged level, it took some time for Northern Knights' Darcy Edmends to find that same level of impact in 2022, but an impressive back half of the year still has him firmly in the draft frame.

A specialist winger of sorts, Edmends just does a lot right in the role, with his positioning around the ground always dangerous, around for a handball from inside of a pack or outside of the forward 50 to take advantage of rushed kicks from opposition. His work rate is high, and he does apply plenty of defensive pressure for a winger, and is far from a handball-receive only character. He is a lightly built talent, but can win his own ball from the outside, though has not been trialled at the coalface.

Edmends mixes his positioning well with his disposal efficiency, and is a neat kick with good decision making skills. There is rarely a disposal Edmends does not use well. With a lot of time spent on the wing, Edmends would benefit from some development on his contested side of the game, as well as some speed training to increase his hurt factor when moving with the ball. He is someone who could be taken late in the draft given those areas of improvement, but is a proven hard worker which will work in his favour.
