A little known prospect out of Caulfield Grammar, Furphy did not play any NAB League games this season, instead focusing on school football. By his own admission he was “pretty surprised” to get an invite, but with an impressive vertical leap and some nice outside traits, Furphy is a raw prospect who clubs see as a long-term development. An overager who played alongside Kaden Schreiber and Will Phillips, Furphy has areas such as his endurance (20.3 on the yo-yo test) and agility (8.94 seconds on the agility test), as well as his defensive work, but it is what he can do with ball-in-hand that catches the eye rather than what he does without it. Still light, Furphy has plenty of growth in him and upside should be a key focus for recruiters considering Furphy.
STRENGTHS: Outside game, vertical leap, upside, versatility
IMPROVEMENTS: Defensive work, strength, endurance
