IMPROVEMENTS: Contested work, tackling

SUMMARY: Williamstown's Brett Bewley has built a reputation as one of the VFL's deadliest kicks, while adding valuable strings to his bow and becoming a prolific ball winner for the Seagulls. Bewley's disposal count was bettered only by teammate Michael Gibbons and Coburg ace Marcus Lentini this year, while his average of five tackles and four inside 50s per game highlight his increasingly even mix of inside and outside capabilities. Bewley runs well both ways, originally on the outside, and is now becoming accustomed to using his 85kg frame better in contested situations. Bewley's continual work on his speed and contested ball winning have been well noted, especially with his 20m sprint time of 2.99 seconds at the 2018 State Combine. As one of the better kicks around, Bewley has cut his teeth in a star studded Williamstown midfield and may now have the range of skills that go far past just the one brilliant trait - with the penny looking to have dropped and a level of consistency shining through.
