Stat Leaders: NAB League Girls Round 7 – Scoullar dominates ruck for second week straight

ROUND 7 of NAB League Girls action saw some intriguing results, as a number of key figures across the six matches stepped up to the plate and had a crack over the weekend. Five players return to leading the stats sheet this round, albeit in different categories, as a couple of fresh faces enter the mix. We take a look at this week’s stat leaders.

Where last round saw individual leaders across categories, Round 7 switched things up with three areas boasting more than one leader, with five multiple goalkickers across the round, all booting two apiece, whilst the marks and rebounds also saw multiple leaders. Dandenong Stingrays’ Amber Clarke and Mackenzie Eardley booted two apiece as did Murray duo Olivia Cicolini and Lily Sharp, whilst Eastern Ranges bottom-ager Alyssia Pisano added another two to her ledger.

Zoe Hill (Dandenong Stingrays) and Matilda van Berkel (Gippsland Power) impressed off half-back with eight rebound 50s apiece, which van Berkel compounded with seven marks to be equal stat leader in that category too, alongside Oakleigh’s Stella Reid and Bendigo’s Octavia di Donato.

Kalani Scoullar won the hitouts for the second week straight with a whopping 37 to her name against the Chargers, while Charlotte Baskaran narrowly pipped Georgie Prespakis at the post for touches, registering 28 to Prespakis’ 27, although the Cannons star piled on seven inside 50s in her side’s one-point loss to Eastern.

Chloe Leonard was physical as ever piling on 14 tackles in an epic losing effort, while Maeve Chaplin was a smooth mover with 16 handballs, and 21 of Annie Lee‘s 22 disposals were kicks.
