Draft Central Player of the Week: NAB League Boys – Round 13

TASMANIA Devils over-ager Matt McGuinness has taken out the NAB League Boys Round 13 Draft Central Player of the Week award, winning 76 per cent of votes in our Facebook poll against Oakleigh’s Reef McInnes. He becomes the first Tasmanian to claim player of the week honours after initially being the first to be nominated, and has been a constantly important part of Tassie’s back six – averaging 17.6 disposals, 5.1 marks, and four rebound 50s across eight NAB League outings this year.

The intercept defender had game-highs in disposals (34), kicks (29) and rebounds (11) in an effort that typified the best of his overall game, also clunking eight marks along the way. Of course, McGuinness’ effort is even more impressive given it came in a losing effort, with Tasmania going down by 29 points to Bendigo Pioneers on home turf.
