Draft hopefuls impress at South Australian pre-season testing

AFTER taking a look at Victoria’s top athletic prospects heading into season 2019, we look back at how South Australia’s draft hopefuls tested in the pre-season. Among the top performers were Central District’s Rhys Cannizzaro and Sturt’s Dailan How in the vertical jumps, with the duo featuring in all three top 10s – Cannizzaro taking out both the running events. Woodville-West Torrens’ Deakan Jackson won the 20-metre sprint in 2.90 seconds, while South Adelaide’s Phoenix Spicer took out the agility test in 7.80 seconds. Norwood’s Dylan Stephens is likely to be a name that continually pops up this year, and he was the winner of the Yo-yo test, reaching level 21.5.

In terms of other impressive performers, West Adelaide’s Will Day and Sturt’s Joel Parker-Boers featured in three top 10s, with Day’s great efforts in the running vertical jump (left), 20-metre sprint and Yo-yo test, while Parker-Boers featured in the 20-metre sprint, agility and yo-yo tests. Central District’s Lachlan Grubb and Leek Alleer, Eagles’ Lachlan Hoile and Kysaiah Pickett, West Adelaide’s Noah Hannagan and Norwood’s Dan Fairbrother were also among the top performers with two top-10 performances across the board.
