Team selection: VFLW – Round 10

THERE will be some close battles anticipated in round 10 of the Victorian Football League (VFL) Women’s season with the Casey Demons taking on Richmond and Carlton taking on Williamstown. Many teams have bought in AFLW heavyweights ahead of their clashes, making for some interesting clashes across the weekend.

DAREBIN  v. NT THUNDER

Round 10 – 14/07/2018
12:00PM
Preston City Oval

Coming off a win last week, Darebin will be hungry for more when it comes up against the NT Thunder this weekend. The Falcons have made plenty of changes ahead of the clash with AFLW powerhouse, Lily Mithen, Molly Eastman, Hannah Mouncey, Tamara Olcorn, Genevieve Lawson-Tavan and Annalyse Lister returning to the side. Shree Fairchild and Lauren Jacobs have been named in after missing last week.

The NT Thunder showed all of their class and skill last week against the Cats and will be looking to do the same when they take on Darebin away from home. They have named two Thunder debutants for the game, who are in no way new comers to the sport, including AFLW premiership players Abbey Holmes and Ebony MarinoffCourtney Cramey, NTFL premiership player Sue Nalder, as well Marijana Rajcic and Justine Mules have also all been named in.

Round 10 – 15/07/2018

Carlton will come into round ten with fresh legs after its bye in round nine. With only two wins to their name, the Blues have turned to the likes of Darcy Vescio, Sarah Hosking and Gabriella Pound to install some class and leadership into the line-up. Their AFLW experience is sure to be an asset for Carlton this weekend, however they are not the only ins this round with talented forward, Kim Cunico and two debutants also named. Former Richmond player, Georgia Fisher comes into the side while former Williamstown player, Jess Malouf will be going up against her old team.

For Williamstown, Jorja Rowe and Jenna Bruton both return from injury and Jacinta Reid has also been named in. Jasmine Garner will take to the sidelines this week with injury alongside Brodie Stevens who has also been named out. With few changes to the Seagulls’ round ten side, they will be trusting in previous performers to step up when they come up against Carlton’s strong list that boasts a host of AFLW players.
