AFLW U16 Championships: Vic Metro vs. Vic Country

VICTORIA’S top Under 16 Girls will do battle from 11.15am tomorrow morning in a curtain raiser to the National AFL Women’s Under 18s Championships at GMHBA Stadium. Both Vic Metro and Vic Country had wins against their respective opponents last week, with Vic Metro toppling South Australia and Vic Country defeating NSW/ACT.

Eastern Ranges’ Olivia Meagher and Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels’ Renee Saulitis were named their sides’ best in the first round and will hoping to back up their efforts this weekend. In defence, Isabelle Pritchard and Sarah Hartwig could line up on Olivia Barber and Renee Tierney, while up the other end, Stephanie Glover and Zoe Hill could have the jobs on Alyssa Bannan and Ellie McKenzie – who will also rotate through the midfield. It is expected to be a very close game, with Vic Metro having plenty of top-end talent both tall and small, while Vic Country has talent across each third of the ground.
