Player of the Week: TAC Cup Girls – Round 4

IN a round where every game was contested within an afternoon, it was very tough to sit back and choose just one player for the week for round four. But in a team performance where there was no shortage of contributors to their big win over Oakleigh, Geelong Falcons’ Olivia Purcell was chosen as this week’s AFL Draft Central TAC Cup Girls’ Player of the Week.

Purcell was clearly best on ground with a number of others in the Falcons’ pink clash strip having outstanding performances. It is no surprise to see Purcell named among the best, as she has been each week this season and is one of the most consistent players in the competition. The talented midfielder had the ball on a string on Tuesday, and also got forward to kick two great goals on the run.

#7 Olivia Purcell

Was everywhere throughout the day. Had a good clearance out of the centre and was able to burst through congestion multiple times. Was able to pick up the ball cleanly and it paid dividends when she did it inside 50 and slotted through a goal. Her marking power was remarkable for a smaller player. Leapt over a player’s back and took a mark with an opponent on her back, showing she could do it all. Purcell was another Falcon who had a wonderful goal sense. She was Geelong’s best player on the day.
